Holiday Break

xmas 2017

Dear Streethunters.net Readers!

The holidays are upon us! We can feel the celebratory mood in the air around us. It is a time for us lucky ones to reconnect with our families and the people we love. I say “us lucky ones” because I know that some of you who are reading this will probably be working, or don’t have the means to be with their loved ones during the holiday season. To all of you I send my warmest and most positive thoughts. I have been there myself and I know the feeling. It is temporary. Next year things will get better. To everybody else that will be celebrating these days with their friends and family I wish all the best. Enjoy your time with them, cherish it and make memories with your cameras!

Happy Holidays from Streethunters.net

Dear Streethunters.net Readers,

One more year has gone by and we are still at it! As 2017 approaches we look back and see what a long way we have come since 2013 when we founded our website. Back then our dream was to create a Street Photography resource and now, we realise this dream has come true!

We have Street Photography Book reviews, we have famous Street Photographer biographies, we have street photography tips, we have held events, we have videos, street photography contests, press releases and announcements, how-tos, featured photos, lists of top 10s, gear reviews, photo critiques, guides to shooting in various cities and more!

We all know it’s important to rest and recharge the batteries once in a while. To take a break and spend time with loved ones and friends. So streethunters.net is going to be on holiday between today and Wednesday, 4th May.

Why the Holiday?

We’re taking a week off now because this week is a very important week in Greece, where our founder Spyros Papaspyropoulos is based. Greece is a country that follows the Eastern Orthodox religion, and this week is the Holy Week, or Easter Week, leading up to the Greek Orthodox Easter on Sunday the 1st of May. This is a very important holiday throughout Greece, as you will have know if you have ever visited the country during this time, or if you’ve seen either of the Tsiknopempti street hunts in 2015 or 2016, or happened to read my Weekly Street Hunters Pic post Χρονια Πολλα! from last year.

It just so happens for 2016 that the dates have lined up perfectly, and Greek Orthodox Easter coincides with May Day, the traditional Worker’s Day holiday observed throughout Europe. For our North American readers, it’s our equivalent of Labor Day. So to celebrate the coordination of these two holidays, we will be taking a break from the website and not posting any articles for one week.

When Will We Return?

We will resume our normal posting schedule on Wednesday the 4th of May. In the meantime, myself, Andrew Sweigart and Spyros Papaspyropoulos will be chilling out and relaxing, and hopefully finding some time for some street photography. We hope you manage to do the same!
Until next week, stay sharp and keep shooting!

Xmas Holidays 2015

The Holidays are upon us and we are all very much excited about it! Every year, during this time, we feel the need to go through our gear and wonder if we need anything new. Because there isn’t a better excuse to spend money on new shiny things than holidays season. If you are interested in getting some inspiration about what you could have for this special holiday, then you should definitely read Digby Fullam’s post “A Street Photographer’s Dream Christmas Wishlish to Santa” and if you have the time, you should also check out my post from two years ago “22 Goodies Street Photographers can ask Santa for Christmas!“. The second post is a bit dated, but it still has some practical ideas you might find useful. Also, if you are looking for a new book, there is no better resource for Street Photography books than the Streethunters.net Bookshelf. A collection of in depth reviews of some of the coolest photo books on the market by our book reviewing expert Andrew Sweigart!

Happy Holidays Announcement

Dear StreetHunters.net Readers,

This is our 2nd official Holiday season as Street Hunters and we are very excited with the way things are evolving!

So, we would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to all of you for being here, supporting us, understanding us and pushing us to keep on going. Sometimes it is tough, but we persist and here we are only months away from our second birthday! How exciting! All thanks to you!
