FourTwoNine magazine LGBTQ exhibit

A brand new exhibition hosted by the magazine FourTwoNine may just be the shot of diversity street photography needs.

FourTwoNine, a newly relaunched men’s magazine based in Los Angeles, is seeking entries for a project documenting the real lives of LGBTQ people across the United States. Photos selected will appear in a touring gallery show beginning during Pride in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco and in an upcoming issue of our national magazine’s print and online editions.

MoPP Pafos BULBphotos Annual Exhibition 2017 cover

We’ve mentioned the fantastic Months of Photography Pafos program here at Streethunters previously. Sponsored by the Cyprus Photographic Society, Pafos Branch, the program hosts an engaging and educational series of events for all photographers and for all ages. Included are various workshops, exhibitions, seminars and film screenings, and most are at a low cost or free! The three-month long program is seeking to establish itself as an international photography festival comparable with others, and it appears to be on it’s way to doing so in Cyprus’ beautiful Paphos, a 2017 European Capital of Culture.

Going Public: Putting Your Street Photos Online Cover

I’d like to write about a particularly important decision in a street photographer’s journey, and one that isn’t considered and covered enough I feel. It’s something that’s become more and more easier, and definitely more significant in the modern age, and with the all-encompassing encroachment of the internet into every aspect of our lives. I’m talking about the decision to ‘go public’ and put your work out there, and start to sell yourself as a street photographer.

Meryl Meisler self portrait

Meryl Meisler at Steven Kasher Gallery

New York in the 1970’s was a hotspot, if not the hottest spot, for punk and disco. CBGBs. Studio 54. These were cultural meccas that were known all over the world. Thankfully, a sharp shooter like the talented Meryl Meisler was there to document it. And, beginning February 25th, you can get a  taste of Meisler’s work from that period at the Steven Kasher Gallery in Chelsea’s art gallery district, New York City.

The exhibition, which rubs through April 9th, features 35 of Meisler’s black and white prints and represents some of her earliest work. The images give us a look into the 70’s from Meisler’s Jewish/Italian hometown in Long Island, to the gritty and wild clubs and streets of disco fever-stricken New York.

Fabian Schreyer + Venice + April 2015

Attention, Streethunters and fans of street photography! If you’re in Rome between January 29th and April 3rd, there is an exhibition that begs to be seen!

‘Via!- Street Photography from Hamburg to Palermo’ is a show that is a result of a great cross-national photography project. Beginning in October 2014, ten photographers, five each from Germany and Italy, shot daily life on their home turf. The project continued for 52 weeks with the photographers capturing all the unexpected, surreal, tragic, funny, weird and thoughtful moments of everyday life. Released in cooperation with the Goethe-Institute, the project will soon be available for all to see.

2nd International Street Hunters Exhibition

Dear Streethunters.net Readers,

At the beginning of 2015 we organised our first joint exhibition in an art gallery in Athens. It was a huge success with a total of 30 photos from all over the world hanging on display for more than 15 days. The photography lovers of Athens honoured us with their presence. Participation was great and we found that the experience was invigorating and exhilarating. You can read more about the event in the following two posts:

StreetHunters.net Exhibition day

A couple of weeks ago, we had posted that the 1st official StreetHunters.net Readers Exhibition was up and open to the public of Athens, Greece. Well, since then many people visited, enjoyed our collection and expressed their interest in our work.

Last night was the last night of the exhibition and we went and removed all the photos from the venue. It was a nice couple of weeks with some good exposure for the Street Hunters that participated and the Streethunters.net brand. It was a unique experience for us and we enjoyed every moment of it!

Street Hunters Exhibition at Mosaic Bar / Athens Gallery

A while back, Andrew, Casper and myself had the idea of organising the 1st official Streethunters.net Readers Exhibition. This exhibition was going to be something like a warm up, a preparation for more future exhibitions. For this first attempt we only invited members of the SHRC (StreetHunters.net Readers Community) to participate. The members of the SHRC are highly involved in anything we like to try with StreetHunters.net and we really appreciate all their support, dedication and understanding they have shown us over the past year. If you would like to become a member of the SHRC, all you have to do is ask. If you have some Street Photography work in your G+ portfolio your acceptance will be swifter.
