Cosyspeed Streetomatic

Avid streethunters.net readers may remember our first ever gear review just over a year ago featured a review of the Cosyspeed Camslinger Camera Bag. Now that we’re a bit more experienced and we’ve got some more reviews under our belts, we’ve been given the opportunity to revisit Cosyspeed’s product line. The guys at Cosyspeed were kind enough to send over a preproduction prototype of their new Streetomatic camera bag for me to try out on the streets. Cosyspeed camera bags are quite unusual in that that they offer street photographers the unique facility to wear their camera bags on their hips like a utility belt, and they can also function as a regular messenger ‘sling’ bag if desired. I’ve been using the Cosyspeed Streetomatic for street photography extensively over the last month, and I’m going to share my findings with you in one of our comprehensive street hunter reviews.

This review was amended on 3/9/2015 as a result of planned changes by Cosyspeed to the production model of the Streetomatic. See ‘Update’ for further details. The score ratings remain the same, but the summary text at the end of the review was altered to take into account these changes.

Introduction

6 days ago I arrived in Istanbul, Turkey to film a new Street Hunt sponsored by Cosyspeed! Cosyspeed has sponsored a previous Street Hunt, the one we recorded in December 2014 in Hamburg, Germany. Visit the Street Photography in Hamburg, Germany post to read more about that or watch the Hamburg Street Hunt to get an even better experience.

I stayed in Istanbul for about 5 days (4 nights) and I have to say it was one of my best Street Photography trips ever. I got to see amazing new places, I was honoured to meet new people and lucky enough to make new friends. It was an experience that will be always remembered. From the first moment I arrived at my hotel until I left 5 days later, I only stopped shooting to sleep and eat. The rest of the time I was in the streets making photos, experiencing the life of Istanbul and widening my photographic horizons.

Cyclist riding over a Bridge in Hamburg

Introduction

Dear StreetHunters.net Readers,

This weekend I visited the city of Hamburg in Germany, to film a Street Hunt video sponsored by Cosyspeed, the company that produces the Camslinger camera bags that are a great companion for any Street Photographer. I stayed in Hamburg for 3 nights and during that time I was lucky enough to meet some very interesting and nice people, to walk the fabulous streets of Hamburg, to taste local food and drinks and to learn a few German words that helped me get around. My trip was full of Street Photography and walking, full of amazement at the architecture and the sheer size of the city and finally full of excitement about seeing new things! The only thing I thought I didn’t handle all too well was the cold. I know that many of you live in equally cold places, some in even colder ones, but being used to the moderate weather of Crete, I felt quite chilly. So, I kept moving, I kept going until by the end of my trip I had covered 22 solid hours of walking. Would I do it again? 100% yes!!! If I woke up in Hamburg tomorrow, I would be on the street for hours on end taking photographs of everything that interested me!

If you don’t know who Cosyspeed is, it is the cool company that makes those awesome CAMSLINGER camera bags that we reviewed in the past. You can read the “Cosyspeed Camslinger Camera Bag Review” here.

CAMSLINGER 160 Street Edition Submissions Closed

Introduction

A while back we reviewed the Cosyspeed CAMSLINGER bag which we liked! We thought it was a high quality product, useful for Street Photographers. During our review we made some suggestions that we asked Cosyspeed to take into consideration. One of those suggestions was an all black CAMSLINGER for Street Photographers! This product is now a reality! Cosyspeed revealed it at Photokina this year and it has been received well. I am certainly psyched about it!

To celebrate the new CAMSLINGER, Cosyspeed asked us to hold a special Street Photography contest for you the Street Hunters Readers. The winner of the contest will win a brand new CAMSLINGER 160 Street edition! How cool is that!?

Cosyspeed suggested that the idea for the contest should be ours, so Andrew and myself thought about it and came up with one that we think will be loads of fun! We shared our idea with Cosyspeed and they loved it! So here it is!

Cosyspeed Camslinger 105

Introduction

Dear StreetHunters.net Readers, this is the first official review that we are writing and the lucky product that will be reviewed is the Cosyspeed Camslinger Camera Bag. Since we haven’t done any reviews ever before and we have no experience writing one what so ever, please understand that we might not do a perfect job on the first go. What is important though is that we will write the Cosyspeed Camslinger Camera Bag review objectively, based on the experience after using it for nearly one month in the streets. It is imperative that you, our Readers receive our honest opinion. We think it is equally important for the product makers to get an honest opinion also.

In this review, we will examine the Cosyspeed Camslinger Camera Bag from different aspects and we will look at various factors that make it the product it is. So, here is the list of things we will look at / examine in our review:

  1. Size / Weight
  2. Varieties
  3. Product quality
  4. Durability
  5. Ergonomy (usability & comfort combined)
  6. Selling point
  7. Price / Value for money

For each point we examine, we will give the bag a grade from 1 to 10. So for example if we like the size we will give it an 8 or 9 or 10. If we don’t, we will give it a 2 or 3 or 4 and so on and so forth. At the end, we will add up the points, divide them by the number of things we examined and get an average score. Of course one important thing you should take into account is that we will look at this product from a Street Photographer’s perspective only. So let’s get to it!
