So as always the best laid plans of mice and men have gone awry, and it has now been almost six or so weeks since the last ‘This Week’ – our summaries of the latest goings on with the Streethunters.net blog and social media channels. With Christmas fast approaching, and our editorial team readying ourselves for a short break to recharge our batteries, we wanted to give a really quick rundown of the events of the last month and half if you’ve missed anything. So strap yourselves in, and get ready for a whistle-stop tour!
Constantinos Arvanitis is the winner of the July 2017 Monthly Theme Contest. He is a Greek Street Photographer based in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada. Five months ago, Constantinos won the “The Colour Blue” monthly theme contest. His images was selected from a pool of 30 Colour Blue street photography themed photographs!
Since January we have introduced new prizes for the winners of the Streethunters.net monthly theme contests. All prizes aim to give the winners massive exposure on our website and our social profiles. But what are those prizes?
It’s Sunday, which means it’s time for another summary of the past week’s happening in the Streethunters.net world on our street photography blog and social media channels with ‘This Week on Streethunters.net’. If you’re new to this featurette, you can browse back through old weekly run-downs on the This Week archive pages of the website. But for now, read on to find out what we’ve been up to over the last week!
We have been blown away by the amount and quality of submissions to the Street Hunters Monthly Theme Contests, and each month has brought a new cavalcade of eye candy for us to behold. Roy Rozanski, Kristof Vande Velde, Christoph Wuzella, Sreejith Kaviyil, Zlatko Vickovic and Svilen Nachev have given us the cream of the crop through for the first six months, and they have clearly set the tone. With each month, the act of choosing becomes a more blissfully arduous task because of the standard set by the previous winners and the influx of quality work.
The calendar turned to July, the third episode in a five-month stretch where the Monthly Theme Contests will be focused on colors. As the weather started heating up, the theme got cool with color blue. But were the submissions to be cool as well?
Indeed they were! We were hit with a blast of blue, and once again, tough decisions had to be made. And once again, as we climbed into the ring to take blow after blow of blue, we knew the winner had to be more than just a snap with blue in it. Constantinos Arvanitis brought it all together with his winning shot, giving us his work that not only nailed the color, but also married it with impeccable timing and clever composition.
Dear Streethunters.net Readers,
July 2017 is over. It is time to announce the winner of the July 2017 Street Photography Contest!
The theme of the contest was “The Colour Blue” and we had asked you all to send in photos with examples of The Colour Blue. You responded by sending in over 70 photographs! Thank you all for submitting your lovely work!
As per the rules of the contest, the 3 editors of the Streethunters.net website Andrew Sweigart, Digby Fullam and myself, chose one photo each. The next step was to select the very best one of the three and present it here to you.
So, the lucky winner of the July 2017 Street Photoghraphy Contest is Constantinos Arvanitis and this is his photograph.
