The eighth Monthly Theme Contest photos for 2018 have been submitted and we have made our choices. Please keep in mind that the process of choosing a photo from the August 2018 Street Photography Contest Submissions was not easy!
But let’s take a look at all the photos that were submitted and accepted in this Monthly Theme Contest.
ATTENTION: The photos that didn’t meet the Theme or the Editors criteria were not chosen to be in the shortlist. They have been disqualified or removed. If your pic isn’t in the shortlist, don’t get discouraged. Try again next month!
At this moment I would like to thank each and every participant for submitting their photograph. We have a great collection of photos with “Beach” to show you! This time we had 30 valid submissions which can all be seen below.
It is time for the Monthly Theme Contest for August 2018! The Monthly Theme Contests are a fun challenge for all! Every month we choose a Theme and we ask you to participate by each sending us one Street Photograph each time at firstname.lastname@example.org. That photos must be based on the Monthly Theme. So for example if the theme is Silhouettes, then we would like you to each send a photo with a Silhouette moment. Your photo can be taken any time in history, we don’t mind, as long as it has been taken by you and nobody else.
What Is This Month’s Theme?
This month we would like to ask you to participate with Street Photos of “Beach”. We would like you to send in street photos featuring a beach scene. Dig up your best shots or go and hunt for some news ones! Please send in clever photos shot on the beach. We look forward to seeing what you will send in!
Please follow the example of the photo we are sharing with you here.
The theme of the contest was “Beach Photography” and we had asked you all to send in photos of people with eccentricities. You responded by sending in 35 great photographs! Thank you all for submitting your lovely work!
As per the rules of the contest, the 3 editors of the Streethunters.net website Andrew Sweigart, Digby Fullam and myself, chose one photo each. The next step was to select the very best one of the three and present it here to you.
So, the lucky winner of the August 2016 Monthly Theme Contest is Mark Darbin and this is his photograph.
The eighth Monthly Theme Contest photos have been submitted and we took a good look at them all and finally made our choices. Please keep in mind that the process of selecting a photo is very difficult and challenging owing to the high standard of the photos entered!
First of all let’s take a look at all the photos that were submitted and accepted in this Monthly Theme Contest.
ATTENTION: Photos that didn’t meet the Theme criteria have been disqualified by the editors. Please make sure to read the requirements carefully before submitting an image

Italian Summer – A Beach Street Photography Project
I took these pictures in different places around Italy—like the island of Salina in Sicily, Salento in Puglia, and Forte dei Marmi in Tuscany. I looked at people of all ages and social stations hoping to find that one common thread of surreal irony. In these difficult times for my country Italian summer is the season when Italians can express their lightness of being and their love for life. Also, as an Italian expat who has lived in London for more than ten years, I can finally see my cultural traits spread out on the beaches of Italy and that evokes strong childhood memories for me of the long happy summers I spent there.
As mentioned in previous post “Announcing the New Monthly Theme Contest Rules“, this year we have made some changes to the contests that we have every month. The new rules are also included in this post and will be included in each contest post from now on. For your convenience, here are the new rules:
So, from now on, you will be asked to submit your photos, just as you always did but we will not select the TOP 10 and share them with you so you can vote for your favourite. What we will do is share ALL photos with you and we will then each pick a personal favourite photo. Then Andrew picks one, Digby picks one and I pick one. The 3 photos we select are presented as the month’s finalists and are announced sometime in the middle of each month. 10-15 days later, we announce the winning photo of the 3 finalists.
