Featured Street Photo by Davide Albani
Davide Albani is a Street Photographer originally from beautiful Rome, Italy. He is currently based in Milan, Italy where he works as an engineer. He has been shooting since February 2014, but photography has been part of his life for as long as he remembers. Davide captures moments that can only be described as surreal and bizarre. He has an eye for the uncanny, the different, the unusual and knows how to use available and artificial light to his advantage.
Davide’s talent has been recognised by many around the world. His work has been exhibited in his own country Italy and also across Europe and the United States. He has won awards at street photography festivals and contests. One of his greatest achievements as a photographer is founding the exciting Italian Street Photography collective EyeGoBananas.

Davide has been a member of our Flickr group for years. He has been submitting quality photos that I love for a long time now. Something about this photograph though drew me in, and made me want to share it with you dear Readers. Everything about this image just makes me want to look at it more and more. Both the composition and the story are simply excellent. Also the analogous colour palette Davide has used adds to the beauty of this shot. But going back to composition, this photo is perfectly executed. The crucifix in the dead centre of the image acts as the main focal point and a separator splitting the image into left and right. However the beautiful green eyes of the girl in the mirror in the bottom right corner (been enhanced by the use of the flash) and the frame of the car rear view mirror also competes for the focal point of the photograph. One could debate that her eyes pull the viewer in more than the crucifix or vice versa, but that is in the eye of the beholder. But what is this photo all about? A beautiful woman, looking at a large crucifix, pondering life, thinking about her past and her possible futures? Maybe a woman heading to a nunnery? There are so many questions that one can ask oneself by just looking at it. So many interpretations. I remember having a discussion on Facebook a couple of days ago about one photograph with two other street photographers. They both shared different opinions about the message behind the same image and I remember thinking that the beauty of photography is in how each person interprets an image. I think I have said enough about this amazing photograph. I will let you enjoy it in your own way.
Fantastic work Davide!
