Announcing the 3rd Annual Street Hunters meeting in London, August 25th – 27th 2017

3rd Annual meeting London

Introduction

Dear Streethunters.net Readers,

For the 3rd consecutive year we are organising the Street Hunters Annual Meeting in London! This year things will be even more interesting and even more exciting. We will be collaborating with Beers & Cameras, 35mmc and the London Street Photography Festival and together we plan to offer you 3 full days of Street Photography ecstasy!

I will get into details about our collaborations further down this announcement, but before I write anything more, I want to send a MASSIVE shoutout to our AMAZING, FANTASTIC, one and ONLY sponsor COSYSPEED who will be funding our meeting for the 2nd year in a row! We thank you very much COSYSPEED and especially Thomas Ludwig our dear friend and avid Street Hunter! I can’t wait to hit the streets with you one more time, Thomas!

The 3rd Annual Street Hunters Meeting

Moving on, the 3rd Annual Street Hunters Meeting (use hashtag #3rdASHMeeting) is just around the corner and it is taking place on the 25th to 27th of August! I will be arriving in London on the evening of the 24th and I will be staying in East London. I still don’t know the name of my hotel, but once I do know the hotel name I will be sharing it with all you guys in case you want to book at the same one. That way we can spend more “unofficial” time together. This will give us the opportunity to discuss the day’s photos in our own time, preferably over some beers.

A 3 day event

The event this year will last 3 days. I will tell you more about each day below in separate sections. You can either choose to attend on all days, or any days you like.

Friday the 25th of August 2017 – Workshops

Starting early in the morning we will be meeting in East London to do two practical workshops. Both workshops will have an attendance fee of £60 in total and if you wish to attend only one of the two workshops, the cost will be £40 per person which can be paid directly to our sponsor, COSYSPEED via a paypal transfer that we will be setting up soon and announcing in the very near future. So stay tuned for a post concerning the workshops specifically after the Easter Holidays. Each workshop will last 4 hours, so you basically get 8 full hours of Street Photography Workshops in one day! But what are those workshops going to be?

35mm film Street Photography Workshop by Hamish Gill of 35mmc (10:00 – 14:00)

Hamish is a experienced 35mm film photographer who will be running a workshop about embracing the limitations imposed by film cameras – from the fully manual camera to the completely automatic point & shoot, and nothing in between.

He will be talking through some of the fundamentals of film photography, including some tips and tricks for getting the most out of your film camera and film with a focus on making the right decisions for your street shooting style.

So, if you haven’t shot Street Photography with film because you find it intimidating, this is the workshop to register for! To attend the workshop you will need a film camera and an ISO400 film (colour or B&W). If you are unsure about an appropriate camera or film to take along, or have any other questions before the day, Hamish is happy to be contacted.

Lunch Break (14:00 – 15:30)

A quick and tasty lunch break to refuel our batteries!

Flash Street Photography Workshop by Spyros Papaspyropoulos (16:00 – 20:00)

During this workshop, I will be teaching you the essentials of Flash Street Photography! I will show you what settings to use during the day when the sun is at it’s brightest and what settings to use when the light is not so strong (around sunset). I will also show you how to approach your subjects and if the light permits, we will practice fill flash techniques shooting against the sun. By the end of the 4 hours, you will know how to make street photographs using a flash! You will need to have a camera and an external flash for this workshop. Also a cord or wireless triggers will be a bonus because you will be able to practice off camera flash street photography, just like Bruce Gilden! Cameras with popup flashes will also do, but if an external flash is available, it would be preferable.

End of day one

We estimate that the first day will end around 20:00. After that we call either visit a pub, or we can go and rest, it depends on what each one of us would like to do!

  2. The 2nd Annual Street Hunters Meeting in London

Joining us this time besides COSYSPEED and 35mmc will also be the cool guys from Beers & Cameras! So, we will be joining forces and hitting the streets together! It is going to be guaranteed massive fun guys and girls! Make sure you don’t miss it.

Gift giveaway

After the introductions have been made, our very generous sponsor will be giving away some gifts to 2 lucky Street Hunters just like last year and the year before that. So, by attending you also get a chance to win a new cool COSYSPEED product!

After the giveaway, depending on the size of the group we will split into smaller groups. We don’t want to intimidate people in the streets by walking in large numbers! So we will split up and go our separate ways and arrange a meeting after 2 hours to mix it up a bit and change groups. After another 2 hours we will meet at a pub for lunch. After lunch, we will continue following the same pattern, switching teams every couple of hours until we all meet at a final destination. This time, our final destination will be the London Street Photography Festival! So once we have enjoyed ourselves in the streets of London, shooting all day, we will all head to the LSPF to enjoy some Street Photography presentations and mingle with everyone there! How exciting is that?!

This is the route we will be following. Click on the map below to open it in Google Maps.

End of day two

We estimate that the second day will end officially around 19:00, but nobody says we can’t keep on shooting after that! So, once the LSPF events end for the day, we can mingle, do street photography and just relax.

Sunday the 27th of August 2017 – London Street Photography Festival

On Sunday we will all be attending the London Street Photography Festival where we will be meeting up with many street photographers from all over the world and we will enjoy street photography presentations and anything else the Festival has to offer! It will be a day or inspiration, learning and making new friends. Make sure you are there for all the fun! On this day, I will also be making a presentation of Streethunters.net so if you want to know more about our story, the people behind the project and our future plans, be at the LSPF on Sunday the 27th!

End of day three

We estimate that the second day will end officially around 19:00 again. After that you are all free to do as you like!

Closing

Here at Streethunters.net we are all excited for this three day event in August. We hope to see as many of you as possible there and don’t forget to spread the word!

Stay Sharp & Keep Shooting!
