Press Release: Miami Street Photography Festival 2016
Introduction
One of the premier Street Photography events in the world is on the horizon, and it is fast approaching. Ladies and gentlemen, The Miami Street Photography festival is in sight!
From December 1st through the 4th, the extravaganza that is The Miami Street Photography festival will be unleashed at HistoryMIami Museum, 101 West Flagler Street, Miami, Florida. This festival is is truly a street star-studded event! Just check out this list of featured artists that truly need no introduction: Martin Parr, Alex Webb, Rebecca Norris Webb, Matt Stuart, Richard Kalvar, Jill Freedman, and Maggie Steber! And then there’s the contest judges: Gus Powell, Chris Suspect, Jesse Marlow, Ania Klosek and Stuart! That, my friends is one impressive lineup.
The MSPF contests
There are two contests. The MSPF Street Photography Contest is open to participants from all over the world. HistoryMiami will exhibit in its museum the contest finalists for two months. Finalists will also be eligible to win the Grand Prize, a brand new Leica Q camera. There is also the Miami Photo series competition. This is a MSPF competition that celebrates its home city of Miami. Open to all levels of photography, the contest calls for your best images dedicated to documenting life in Miami. Participants are required to submit a series of images exploring a theme inspired by the Magic City.
Workshops
The festival will also feature four workshops with some of the great photographers mentioned above. Richard Kalvar, Matt Stuart, Maggie Steber and Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb will all host workshops.
Featured street photography collective
The featured street photography collective at MSPF will be STREET PHOTO THAILAND, “a group of dedicated street photographers that is constantly observing and capturing Bangkok’s extraordinary and dynamic city life and other remarkable moments and nuances of Thai culture. They are on a mission to elevate and promote Thai street photography to both national and international levels.” A group of truly talented photographers, indeed!
Ending
The MSPF bills itself as an international photography festival showcasing the best of contemporary Street Photography viewed through the eyes of emerging photographers in this genre. It’s goal is to establish a global platform for learning through exhibitions, workshops, lectures and other events. A glance at this lineup of outstanding artists leaves no doubt that this goal will be met!
