Dear Streethunters.net Readers,
Last year we decided to hold the 1st Annual Street Hunters Meeting in London. Needless to say we had a blast, we made many new friends and we all learned a thing or two by exchanging stories, tips and tricks. It was a whole day event lasting from the morning until the evening. Personally it was one of the best days of my life as a Street Photographer!
A year has passed and it is time for us to meet again. We put lots of thought into the city we should meet in, but after researching flights and access to various major European cities, logic dictated that we repeat our meetup in London. London is the European city with easiest and cheapest access on average. People from all over the world can visit since it is a hub for flights from nearly everywhere. It is massive, diverse, impressive, ever-changing and full of life. So, for the time being at least, it looks like we will be sticking to London for the Annual Street Hunters Meetings.
The 2nd Annual Street Hunters Meeting
Moving on, the 2nd Annual Street Hunters Meeting (use hashtag #2ndASHMeeting) is just around the corner and it is taking place on the 20th of August! I will be arriving in London on the evening of the 18th and I will be staying at the Pembridge Palace Hotel which is at Prince’s Square, Westminster Borough, London, W2 4QB, United Kingdom. I know that a few Street Hunters Readers will be booking a hotel room there also so we can spend more time together after each shoot. This will give us the opportunity to discuss the day’s photos in our own time.
A two day event
Yes! This time it is going to be a 2 day event, thanks to our sponsor, our beloved COSYSPEED! So, what will these couple of days include besides the 2nd Annual Street Hunters meeting?
Friday the 19th of August – Workshop
COSYSPEED will be sponsoring a FREE Street Photography workshop for 5 lucky individuals. This is going to be a BEGINNERS workshop so any of your guys that have been shooting for over a year and are familiar with the ways of the street might not find this to your interest. It is best suited for all of you that wish to start shooting in the streets or have been doing so for a short while. The reason why we will only be sharing this experience with 5 people is because the plan is to do a hands-on street photography workshop. Theory will be taught as we walk in the streets and 90% of the class will be about actually doing street photography. The goal is to learn how to behave, interact and move as a Street Hunter. We will split into pairs that will change every hour. I will spend one hour with every student and each student will pair up with each other, so it will be an interesting day for all of us. At the end of the day, we will sit down and share our photos and see how we all performed that day. We don’t need computers or iPads. Being a small group it will be just as easy to check photos on the back of the cameras. If someone wants to shoot with film, they can always email me their photos and I will give them a written evaluation of their work. I am really looking forward to this! This will be a first in – first served workshop, so the first 5 of you that get to send in your request at firstname.lastname@example.org will be accepted in the workshop. Be hasty!
Saturday the 20th of August – Gift giveaway, Annual Meeting & Street Hunt video!
Saturday is the big event day! We will meet early in the morning around 09:00 at one of the major train stations and start the meeting with introductions and some awesome COSYSPEED giveaways! Our very generous sponsor will be giving away some of its products to a few lucky individuals, just like last year. So, by attending you also get a chance to win a new cool Camslinger bag!
The 2nd Annual Street Hunters Meeting & Street Hunt video
Once the giveaway has been completed and introductions have been made, depending on the size of the group we will split into smaller groups. We don’t want to scare people in the street by walking in huge numbers! So we will split up and go our separate ways and arrange a meeting after 2 hours to mix it up a bit and change groups. After another 2 hours we will meet at a pub we will all agree on and have lunch. After lunch, we will continue following the same pattern, switching teams every couple of hours until we all meet at a final destination to discuss our day, have some beers and say our goodbyes.
Here at Streethunters.net we are all excited for this two day event in August. We hope to see as many of you as possible there!
Stay Sharp & Keep Shooting!
