The Cyprus Photographic Society, Pafos Branch continues to roll out great events within their Months Of Photography program. Up next is their second installment of their Fotomarathon, whose debut last year was a success. The event is scheduled for May 14th, from 10AM to 2PM.
Fotomarathon is a challenge-based competition and the event is open to all, with no restrictions based on age or level of photographic expertise. It is designed to provide an opportunity for creative expression and for the participants to view and explore their own city in a new and different perspective while being creative, spontaneous, original.
A the start of the challenge, the participants will be given four themes/categories and they will have four hours to complete the tasks. The themes/categories will not be revealed until the start of the event. The starting point of the challenge is the Mania Restaurant (Kato Pafos Area) and participants can begin arriving at 9AM. There will be awards and prizes for the winners. The submissions will be accepted between 1:30pm and 2:30PM. No digital processing will be accepted apart from the settings that can be used on the camera. Smartphone photos will also be accepted. Exif archives will be checked. The participations by subject, as well as the prize-winning photographs, will be featured on the CPS websites. The best 14 photos from each theme will be presented in an exhibition in June. First winners of each theme will receive an award.
The deadline for registration is May 12th. The entrance fee is €10. Group entries of 4-6 people receive a 30% discount. There is no fee for participants up to 17 years of age. Complete rules and the submission form can be found at: https://cpspafos.com/2016/04/27/mopp_2nd-cyprus-fotomarathon/.
The Society is succeeding in delivering fun, educational and low-cost events during their Months of Photography program. The Fotomarathon looks to be no exception.
