April 2016 winner

Dear Streethunters.net Readers,

The fourth Monthly Theme Contest photos have been submitted and we took a good look at them all and finally made our choices. Please keep in mind that the process of selecting a photo is very difficult and challenging owing to the high standard of the photos entered!

First of all let’s take a look at all the photos that were submitted and accepted in this Monthly Theme Contest.

ATTENTION: Photos that didn’t meet the Theme criteria have been disqualified by the editors.

At this moment I would like to thank each and every participant for submitting their photograph. We have a great collection of photos with “High heels with flash” to show you! This time we had 8 valid submissions which can all be seen here:

Since there is no longer any voting, we are presenting the photos with the name of the photographer.

The nominees

Every month each one of us Streethunters.net editors picks one photo as a nominee. Here are the photos we chose and the reasons why:

Andrew Sweigart

“This shot is raw and it is a winner. The use of flash is obvious, as it is reflected off of the shiny, well-heeled boots. Do the boots belong to a rock star or a superhero? We don’t know because the owner’s upper half is concealed underneath their furry coat, embracing the pull handle of a piece of luggage. Are they tired, drunk or trying to hide? The criteria for the contest is fulfilled with ample servings of fun and intrigue, to boot!”

Digby Fullam

“I really love how this photographer has taken the ‘High Heels with Flash’ theme and run with it. We’ve got a really surreal photo here, and the flash and unusual eccentric subject both serve to give it a very gritty feel too. And such glorious colour as well – those red boots really pop, and I love the small details of the colourful confetti on the cobblestones. There’s definitely a backstory to this photograph, and the photographer has captured my interest and left me wondering exactly what is going on. Brilliant!”

Spyros Papaspyropoulos

“In my opinion this surreal photograph stands out from the crowd. It is full of mystery, making me wonder what is going on here. Additionally, the red boots with that pattern, attract my eyes. The contrast between the surroundings and the red is mind blowing! Fantastic. The fact that the woman ( I presume) wearing these boots has her head covered by her jacket, adds an extra element of surrealism to the image. She looks headless, which only makes the photo more interesting. This picture is so interesting it just makes me want to look at it continuously. Well done to the photographer. Amazing work!”
