Inside The Curious Shadows’ Camera bag! (Bag No83)

Hi there,

I’m from Melbourne, Australia. I shoot all the time, on the way to work, at lunch, going home, going out anywhere, I take my camera. EVERYWHERE! It drives my wife crazy! I don’t drive, so I walk or take public transport which is excellent for shooting. I like random things, street, abstract and minimalist I guess, and have a rather dark streak to my photography. I love stumbling over dead animals in the city. I find it fascinating, but can’t say why! Melbourne’s a great city for shooting. Tree lined streets, lots of different types of architecture, and a eclectic mix of people and fashions. The city was designed well, and the light, especially during the golden hours, is sensational through the trees.
I have just been part of a street photography exhibition here, ‘Shot in the heart of Melbourne’, which actually finishes today!

The bag itself is a Crumpler ‘5 Million Dollar Home’ camera bag which I actually won in an online newspaper travel photo contest a few years ago.

The contents of my bag:

Contents:

  • A small book on HCB which I found at a market for $5. Good portable reading when resting, on a train, or need some inspiration.
  • XXX mints, for a refreshing wake up call, these are the best mints!
  • Microfibre cloth and lens pen for cleaning.
  • Three spare batteries, they don’t make them like they used to, I can drain one after a few hours, as I leave my camera on as I walk.
  • A few SD cards.
  • Tissues and wet ones, come in handy if you need to clean your hands and face.
  • Band aid for any cuts.
  • Coins. Always come in handy for small purchases.
  • Pen, paper, for notes.
  • Business cards.
  • Camera strap. I hardly ever use it, as I normally carry my camera in my hand.
  • Plastic/paper bag, just in case I buy stuff, i bring my own bag.
  • Allergy tablets. Spring can play havoc on my sinuses!
  • And of course, my Panasonic Lumix GX7 with Pana/Leica Summilux 25mm 1.4f lens and lens hood.
  • Missing is a bottle of water, which fits into one section of the bag perfectly.

Closing:

Don’t forget to take your camera everywhere! Don’t regret missing that one shot.

It took me ages as I’m not a tech savvy person, and it’s still a bit rough around the edges.

Rules of participation

Each person that submits the contents of his bag will also be allowed 150 words to describe her / him self to the rest of the StreetHunters.net Readers via the www.streethunters.net website pages! We will even allow one link, back to your website! It will be loads of fun! Why? Well, because we will start to get to know each other through these small 150 word descriptions and of course through the contents of each one’s bags! Now, when we say Camera Bag, it doesn’t have to literally be a bag. It could be a pouch, a backpack, pockets of a jacket, whatever. All we need is the list of all the contents and a photo of those contents on a wooden or carpeted (preferably) floor from above. What must be included in the email you send us? Here is the list of things you need to provide us with in order to have a valid entry:

  • 150 word description of yourself and your Street Photography quirks, habits, tips, whatever. 150 words MAX.
  • Photo of the contents of your bag and your bag next to those contents on a floor, shot from 90 degrees above. High quality, big size.
  • List of items included in your camera bag.
  • Link to your website OR blog OR facebook page OR GooglePlus page OR whatever.
  • A closing remark 20 words MAX. You can say for example something like Thank for letting me share the contents of my bag, now stop looking into my privates and go take some photos!

We thank you in advance for your participation and we are really looking forward to finding out what YOU are hiding in your camera bags! Send everything in at streethunters.net@gmail.com! Stay Sharp & Keep Shooting!
