Dear Streethunters.net Readers,
I live in Rethymno. Rethymno is a small city, or big town (can’t really decide) in Crete. During the winter is it quite quiet and dare I say boring. During the summer it is insanely busy, full of people visiting from all over the world! Luckily for us down here in the south or up here in the north (everything is a matter of perspective really) summer lasts anywhere from 7 to 9 months depending on how lucky we are. But this post is not about the seasons of Rethymno, or the weather.
During the slow months of winter, something happens that wakes up the city. And when I say wakes up the city, I mean the whole place turns into an overcrowded, insane asylum where everyone runs free like lunatics. I am referring to the week leading up to Carnival day. Carnival is a very, very important thing here and people from all over the world swarm to little Rethymno just to take part in this amazing yearly party. This year it is on the 13th of March, so if you are interested in joining you should seriously consider booking tickets and rooms this week, because I can guarantee you, you will not be finding anything available in a couple of weeks.
We are planning to have a Street Photography Orgy! Yes, we are going to be joined by friends from all over the world that will be coming ONLY for this reason. Friends from the USA, Turkey, Sweden, the UK and more. We are planning to go nuts. We will be shooting from Friday evening on the 11th until the early hours of Monday morning the 14th of March. We will only take the necessary breaks we need to refuel and rest and then go on and on, shooting until we drop.
This is an open invitation to everyone who is interested to join us! During that time we are also holding the “Intermediate Flash Street Photography Workshop” if you are interested in learning more about flash photography. If not and you just want to hang out with us, we would gladly hook up with you and hit the streets together.
So, mark the date in your calendar and stay in touch!
Stay Sharp & Keep Shooting!
