A while back, Andrew, Casper and myself had the idea of organising the 1st official Streethunters.net Readers Exhibition. This exhibition was going to be something like a warm up, a preparation for more future exhibitions. For this first attempt we only invited members of the SHRC (StreetHunters.net Readers Community) to participate. The members of the SHRC are highly involved in anything we like to try with StreetHunters.net and we really appreciate all their support, dedication and understanding they have shown us over the past year. If you would like to become a member of the SHRC, all you have to do is ask. If you have some Street Photography work in your G+ portfolio your acceptance will be swifter.
About the Exhibition
Going back to the event, everything turned out better than anticipated. At first we had booked a venue in Athens that could display up to 20 photos. We saw that the participation was more than we anticipated and we felt that we were letting down some Street Hunters that wanted to exhibit their work but couldn’t because there was no available space. So we looked for a bigger place and found Mosaic Bar / Athens Gallery. It is an excellent venue that can display up to 75 photos. We told the Street Hunters and as a results we ended up showcasing 30 photos instead of 20. Not only did all participants finally enter, but many participated with more than one photo! Last Friday the exhibition was setup and has been on display since then. Today is the official “opening” and it will remain on display until the 30th of January 2015.
This is what the gallery looks like with the Streethunters.net Readers photographs on display.
As we mentioned before, tonight is the official opening, so we will be taking photos from the event and possibly making a video too. We will share those with you on a later date. But for now, please enjoy the photos of all the participants in first name alphabetical order:
A huge thanks
Many thanks to all of you StreetHunters.net Readers that participated in this 1st exhibition and congratulations for having your work displayed. Also, many thanks to our friend Eleni Petreka who helped us organise the exhibition by finding the venue and hanging up the photos for us. We couldn’t have done it without her help.
Stay tuned for part two of this blog post when we will share with you photos from today’s exhibition official opening and hopefully a video too.
Stay Sharp & Keep Shooting!
