Turquoise door

Turquoise door

Weekly pic

This is a photograph that has been shot with a SONY NEX-6 and a Sony 20mm f2.8 SEL20F28 lens in Rethymno, Crete.

I have mentioned many times before that my favourite hours for shooting Street during the day are early in the morning. The reason is that I get amazing light at that time, similar to the afternoon Golden Hour but brighter and sharper. I like using this light to make photos with deep, dark shadows and eye piercing, popping colours.

I made this photograph of this man while getting ready to open his shop for the morning. It must have been somewhere around 08:30 if I am not mistaken. I can’t remember. What attracted me was the intense colour of the Turquoise door and how nicely it looked next to the cement orange wall. The man, getting ready to open shop was dressed in all blue, giving the composition a nice colour balance. The shadows cast over him and from him added to the exaggeration of the colours and the intensity of the wooden Turquoise door.
