Announcing The Monthly Theme Contest!

Street Hunters Monthly Theme Contest

“Today we are very excited to announce the Monthly Theme Contest!”

Dear Readers!

The Monthly Theme Contest is going to be a fun activity that anyone can participate in! Every month we will announce a Theme. Based on this Theme we would like you, our Readers to email us each a Street Photograph at So for example if the theme is Umbrella in the rain, then we would like you to each send a photo with a Umbrella in the rain. Your photo can be taken any time in history, we don’t mind, as long as it has been taken by you and nobody else. Once you send us your picture, we will decide which are the 10 best ones and we will post them on our website. Then, we will ask you to vote for the best photograph out of the 10. The best photograph will earn one spot in the annual 2015 calendar which we hope to print at the end of the year!

We should have thought about this sooner, so in order to catch up we will be asking you to send in 3 photos this time! 1 photo for each one of the following Themes:

  1. Motion Blur (For January)
  2. Posed Street Portraits (For February)
  3. The Colour Red (For March)

The following months will only have 1 monthly Theme. I repeat this is for just this once because we started doing this a bit late. Forgive us if this is inconvenient for you in any way. This 3 Theme scheme is only for this time! All other times we will only have one Theme. So for this time and this time only:

  • If you choose to send a photo, please specify for which Theme you are sending it for!
  • Also, please send one photo per Theme if you choose to send more than one.

Now, at the end of the year we will ask you to vote for the BEST of all the 12 photos that we will have selected for the calendar. The best photo will win a FREE copy of the calendar! We know it is not much, but that is all we can offer at the moment.

You can start sending photos for this month’s 3 Themes from now and the end of the submissions are on the 15th of March 2014. After that and for 15 days, we will have 3 polls running to determine the winners of January, February and March. The winners will be announced during the first month of April when the next Theme will also be made public to you!

  1. Photos must be 1680 x 1116.

Important Note

All winners throughout the year will be requested to send their photos over in High Resolution (8mp = 3,264 x 2,448 at 150dpi at least) by December 2014. Please keep that in mind so you don’t accidentally enter the competition with low res only images from old iPhones or smartphones with low res cameras. If you enter a film snap, then a 5mp = 2,592 x 1944 high dpi scan at 300dpi will do.

We will not use your photos for anything else other than this event.

So, don’t just sit there! Email us your photos at now!

  1. Since you will presumably be selling the calendars, model releases would be required for any recognizable people. The vast majority of street photographers do not obtain model releases, including me. That will severely limit the entries or your ability to use the photos.
