Street Photo of the week by Dimitris Makrygiannakis

We thought that for this week a colour photo would be best. So we looked at our list of the 50-60 Street Photographers we already have decided to promote in this weekly feature and decided to share Dr. Dimitris Makrygiannakis’s work with you this Friday.

Dimitris Makrygiannakis, a.k.a. ngravity is a gifted Street Photographer with an eye for the smart moment, the moment that can be considered symbolic. After observing his work it is obvious that Dimitris really pushes the boundaries of Street Photography, creating illusions through coinciding moments. This is very hard to achieve and needs a lot of practise and as he himself said, he wouldn’t have evolved in the way he has if he hadn’t devoted himself 100% to Street Photography for a few months. Dimitris lives and works as a doctor in Sweden and is originally from Greece. You can see more of Dimitris Makrygiannakis’s photographic work on his Flickr page at or you can watch an interesting interview by Eric Kim
Embracing Surrealism and Symbolism: Video Interview with Dimitris Makrygiannakis in Stockholm.”

Dimitris Makrygiannakis’s work shines through this photograph. He has managed to capture a moment that existed for a split second, a moment that coincided between four people! For a fraction of time, all four people, the woman, the man on the left, the man behind the woman and the photographer, created an unbeatable candid composition, unique and never again possible! This is what Dimitris’s work is all about and why we enjoy looking at his photography so much.

Thank you Dimitris Makrygiannakis!

  1. So change the opinions. As street photography was not so popular, this photo would have been panned because an arm grows out of the head of the woman. Well choosen guys 😉
